We process personal data of visitors to www.europeanhighways.eu in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Slovak Act No. 18/2018 on Personal Data Protection.
You have no user account on this website, you buy nothing from us, and you do not need to give us any data. We process only what is necessary to run the site, plus whatever you consent to.
2. What data and why
a) Technical operational data (server logs)
Data: truncated IP address, date and time of access, URL visited, browser and operating system type, browser language, referring page.
Purpose: ensuring the operation, security and stability of the website; protection against attacks and abuse.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in the secure operation of the website.
Retention: for as long as necessary to ensure the operation and security of the website, as a rule no longer than 90 days, after which the records are deleted automatically.
b) Strictly necessary (technical) cookies
Data: session identifier, stored language preference, record of your choice in the cookie banner.
Purpose: basic site functionality and remembering your cookie choice.
Legal basis: necessary to provide the service you requested — no consent required (Section 109(8) of Slovak Act No. 452/2021 on Electronic Communications).
Retention: until the browser is closed; we keep the record of your cookie choice for no more than 13 months, after which we ask you again.
c) Advertising cookies and personalised advertising (Google AdSense)
We display advertising on this website through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may store and read cookies and similar identifiers on your device in order to show you more relevant advertising, measure its performance and prevent fraud.
Data: advertising identifiers in cookies, IP address, approximate location, device and browser information, browsing history on this and other sites in the Google advertising network.
Purpose: serving and measuring advertising; funding the operation of the website.
Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), obtained via the cookie banner and withdrawable at any time.
Google's role: for personalised advertising, Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) acts as a separate controller. Information on how it handles your data:
- List of advertising partners: https://support.google.com/admanager/answer/9012903
Retention: as set by Google, typically up to 24 months from your last interaction.
d) Traffic analytics
We measure traffic using the analytics tool built into the Macaly platform, which is technically provided by PostHog, Inc. (USA).
Data: IP address, pages visited, visit duration, device and browser type, language, traffic source, analytics identifier stored in a cookie.
Purpose: to see how many people visit the site, which language versions and countries are most used, and to improve the site accordingly.
Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Retention: as set in the analytics tool, no more than 14 months.
3. Transfers to third countries
Part of the processing takes place on servers outside the European Economic Area, in particular in the United States:
- hosting and analytics — our platform provider uses cloud infrastructure and analytics services based in the USA (for example Amazon Web Services, Cloudflare, Vercel, PostHog)
- advertising — Google also processes advertising data on servers in the USA
These transfers are covered by the European Commission's adequacy decision on the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, in which the relevant providers participate, or alternatively by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
If you do not allow advertising and analytics cookies, your data is not transferred to third countries for those purposes. However, the basic technical transfer involved in delivering the site via a CDN cannot be switched off — it is necessary for the page to load at all.
4. Who we share data with

(Macaly platform), Záhřebská 562/41, Vinohrady, 120 00 Prague 2, Czech Republic, ID No. 198 68 987 — hosting, site operation and analytics, acting as a processor under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.
